I bought happiness
Through the scribbled letters
Of a prescription paper
And then smiles and giggles
Overflowed from my mouth
Smiles that are lies
Giggles that are sighs
And then I sharpen
My blunt ends
To be crisp and crunch
To the already crispy world
Pretending to be alive
While all i am
Is skeletal remains
Of a withered leaf…
Fallen long ago
From the grip of
Its life……..
โskeletal remains
Of a withered leafโฆโ what a powerful comparison! Sad, yet beautiful, imagery.

Poignant.
But to understand and express as much must signal the painful emerging of a bud for regrowth.

The first three lines are a wonderful hook. I was immediately drawn into the story. Then the rest pulled at my heart strings. The open form lends itself to the beauty of the flow. This is one of my favorites!

Although the mood of this poem was somber, it was full of really nice verse. Peace.

I too have received that happiness. Then one day it didnโt work any longer. I had to find contentment and real value. Great lines.
