The Pride

The pride of a tempest is such,

Thinks it can blow away the Sun,

Sway it off from its perpetual run.

Dribble it out of its eternal light,

Turn its shine into darker plight.

Smother its identity with gloom,

Enslave into a shrouded groom!

The pride of a tempest is such,

Blinded conceit sees not much.

Unwittingly naive its having fun;

Comparing itself with the wise Sun.

A tiny grain challenging the rock,

Only to shatter in an utter shock!

The pride of a tempest is such,

It can eliminate all with its touch.

What roars more, rarely impact,

Can only rumble in a false act,

Unlike the Sun forever intact!

The pride of a tempest is such,

About hope it knows not much.

Ruination is in its prime nature,

While sun restores and nurtures!

The pride of a tempest is such,

Thinks it can end the legacy of Sun,

But in the process, it only burns.

Who compares Sun with storms,

It’s odd against all cosmic norms.

Dark whirls may intimidate a sight,

Yet remain transient in their might,

Fading to nothing in grace of light!

  2. Loved this from all angles! The concept/perspective, the rhythmic flow, the fluidity of rhyme scheme, the metaphors, the existential paradox, et. al. Well done, my friend. You have honed your craft to a thing of true beauty!

    • Thanks a lot for reading, Brad, always; your comments mean a lot and motivate me to keep going. Due to personal commitments, I haven’t been active enough to read or even write. But I hope I will catch up with reading all the beautiful work on the blog especially yours. And I hope my talent doesn’t fade away with time. Anyways, hope you are doing well.
