Have you heard of the legend of the dream walker,
He can walk through your dreams as a night stalker.
Sprinkling his nightmares to make your dreams darker,
Resides in your worst fears as a creepy lurker!
*************************************************
If you are awoken at night, as the ravens are crowing,
If you feel cold jitters, look behind, a shadow is growing.
His sharp nailed claws brush and scratch your spine,
You look around to see scary faces bizarrely conjoined!
*************************************************
On your chest sits an old hag singing an ominous lullaby,
A disfigured clown does expressions that your mind can’t stand by.
And far away from your bed, you can see a pair of red lights,
They are his eyes that flicker in grimful odd delight!
*************************************************
The nightmares don’t let you rest, as you stay up all night,
You open up the window to dismiss this uncanny fright.
Outside, the street lamps explode by an invisible force,
Lingering darkness in your heart without any light source!
*************************************************
You sweat and shiver from the effect of the foul,
Close to your ears, you hear snarls and growls.
Your blood is racing as your soul is panting,
You are sick of his foul smell and demonic rantings!
*************************************************
As you survive through the night under your blanket,
The thing under your bed tries to pull off your jacket.
And yes, there is something in the closet too,
It keeps knocking thrice, stops and again continues!
*************************************************
In so much shock, you are alert and wide awake,
What next you will witness may not be a piece of cake.
They say if you see the walker, your balance will shake,
He is the evil sandman whose terrors are too real to be fake!
*************************************************
All of a sudden, you experience a strange dead silence,
Tonight, you are the squeaky rat amidst his evil presence.
His monstrous talons grip your sanity in a vicious prowl.
With Bat-like wings, he appears as a human-shaped owl!
Then the walker stares straight inside your breaking mind,
He tells you he is the predator preying fears of humankind!

A Halloween special, The Dream walker, is a horror poetry fiction I had written some time ago, but it was fun to revisit the poem for the spooky season. This piece will entice you with re-edits and content changes I have made. Dream walker is also the antagonist of a series I dream of creating called Nigtmareland; you guessed it right, it’s all about nightmares, but that story is for another day. He is neither a sandman nor a boogeyman but a heinous hybrid of both. Will you dare to know all about his saga? But I warn you, you may have to sleep tonight will your lights on!
You have an innate talent for the dark and macabre. Wonderfully written, my friend!
