Dread

Dread claws onto my weary soul,
Ripping it apart, to never be whole,
Every dream gouged from my eyes,
A star lesser in the illusory sky,
Every love that was never to be,
Botched away a piece, a token of me,
All the weight of being alone,
I have carried onto my fragile bones,
Dread knitting the story of my life,
With Needles of pain and threads of sighs,
Dark shadows of the past stand very tall,
Intimidating, mocking my gait as small,
I would long for the sun, for your face, for your grace,
To melt this affliction on a burning surface,
But how long my wings could ever spread,
While chained in the frigid grasp of Dread
.

Dedicated to my dearest mommy, my everything!
